Civil War Union Soldiers were issued greatcoats to be worn over their uniforms during the winter months. The Foot (Infantry) version (pictured at left) is single breasted with a standing collar and has an elbow length cape. The Mounted (Cavalry and Artillery) version is double breasted with a stand and fall collar and a cuff length cape.
